Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines the football scholarship of his parents and a commitment in the local community. One of the first things he did is to help his relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children on an Eufala farm. He played second in football and was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. Three of them made All-America. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the USA. During his three years as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and won two national championships. Selmon was an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given an award for his third year in the year 1975. Selmon earned a degree as an educator. Fourth service In the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. After college, he moved in Tampa and played nine years with the Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro three times. He then began his career. In 1988, as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa He was a member of the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. No wonder that In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's top 10 young men. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds in his college days. He played for the team of 1975. He joined the University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame by his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by The Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Selmons' parents Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
