Fawn Mckay

Fawn Brodie McKay, born September 15, 1915 was raised within Ogden Utah. Fawn MCKAY was brought up in the Mormon First Family of the Church, used her literary talent and research abilities to create the fascinating psycho-historical biographical biography of Joseph Smith. Published in 1945 under the title of No Man knows My History, she used both. That title was taken from the funeral sermon preached by the founding father of the Church of Latter-Day Saints in 1844, when he shocked the congregation with his words"You're not my friend, You've never met my heart. My life story isn't known to anyone. It's impossible for me to reveal it. Writes the 29-year-old Fawn after the moment when he spoke, about three dozen writers have been able to take on the challenge. There have been attempts to make him god, others have been accusing him of being an obfuscator. Many have even tried to make a diagnosis. But the problem is the documents don't exist. They're contradictory. It is up to us to separate the primary source from the plagiarism of third parties and to blend Mormon stories with those of non-Mormons into a mosaic of credible history. This is a fascinating as well as educational journey. FawnBrodie embraced this challenge professionally. The results of her study as well as her writing earned her the world's attention: Thaddeus Stevens. Scourge of South (1959) The Devil Drives. Thomas Jefferson. A Personal Historical Document (1974) and later posthumously Richard Nixon.
