Fawn Mckay

Fawn McKay was born 15 September 1915 in the city of Ogden in Utah. Fawn MCKAY was born into the Mormon Church's First Family, utilized her writing talent as well as expertise in research to write the fascinating psycho-historical biographical biography of Joseph Smith. Published in 1945 under the title of No Man Knows My History, she used both. The title was taken from an 1844 funeral eulogy that Joseph Smith delivered. The speech said: You didn't know me and you hadn't known my heart. My past is not known by any one. There is no one who knows my past. Writes the 29-year-old Fawn in that day of truth, more than three writers have stepped up to the plate. Certain people have attempted to glorify him while others accused him of being an obfuscator. Some even tried to make a diagnosis. But the problem is the documents don't exist. They're contradictory. It's not an easy task to put these pieces together, to separate first-hand accounts from third-hand copies and then to put Mormon as well as non Mormon narratives together into a coherent mosaic. It is fascinating and informative. That's the mission to which Fawn Brodie devoted herself professionally. Her research and writings brought her fame around the world: Thaddeus Stephens. The Devil Drives (1959) Scourge Of The Southern The Story of Sir Richard Burton (1967) Thomas Jefferson. An Intimate History (1974) as well as posthumously Richard Nixon.
