Lucy Liu is an American voice actress, producer and singer. She is an attractive, skilled actress that has inspired numerous Asian actors to make it in Hollywood. After a series of appearances in television shows that were popular and movies, she gained fame when she was cast in the Ally McBeal legal comedy where she portrayed Ling Woo. After her popularity, she was offered significant part for her in Shanghai Noon (1998) and Charlie's Angels (2000). Then, she gave an an excellent performance in Quentin Tarantino Kill Bill Volume 1 as Japanese crime lord O Ren Ishii. In this period, she played the lead in some failures on the box-office such as Rise: Blood Hunter. After that, she started to play characters that were prominent in animated films like Kung Fu Panda. Mia Mason, in Cashmere Mafia as well as other smaller-screen roles failed to bring her any success. Southland, a critically acclaimed series of crime dramas that featured Liu in recurring roles, helped her reestablish her as an actress. Liu picks her roles wisely to avoid becoming typecast in the highly competitive field. As much as she loves her culture but it doesn't mean she has to be in her professional work in the field of art.
