Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She was the founder of The Huffington Post and the director of Thrive Global. Author of over 15 books. Arianna Huffington, an independently-owned liberal news website and a television host author, author and charitable donor. Her birthplace was Greece she relocated to England when she was sixteen and then graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. As the first foreign student to hold the position of president in the prestigious debating group The Cambridge Union, at age 21 she took over the presidency. Following graduation, she left her mark as columnist in the conservative syndicated media as well as with the introduction of The Huffington Post' few years later, she developed an online voice platform that provided critical views about the current political climate. In part, her fame helped in attracting several famous contributors. Arianna first gained notoriety in 2003 as she stood for California's recall election, in the place of Governor Davis. Alongside that, she led an initiative in Detroit campaign to encourage fuel-efficient cars. Forbes named her as one of the "most important woman" within the field of media and ranked her 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 most influential media people in 2009. In 2011, AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post and made her the head of the media unit, which comprised of many at the time-current AOL properties, including Engadget AOL music Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli is the child of Konstantinos the Journalism and management expert. While she was very close with her father, it was the relationship she shared with her mother that shaped her character. She was a leader throughout her childhood. At the age of 16 her family moved to her home in United Kingdom for her higher education. She attended Girton College Cambridge. While in college she joined the college debating group Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign president and was also the third female president. In 1972, her master's in Economics was awarded. Following her graduation, she was employed as a columnist critic and as a host on television. Alongside Bernard Levin she appeared on the show Face the music.
